Letter from the Editor

I have always been a firm believer in the old adage that states, “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.”

As such, I am thrilled to be a part of the Western Mass. Sports Journal family – a family whose sole duty is to continuously shine a spotlight on the numerous positive happenings in our region. Too often, the modern media chooses to focus on stories that sensationalize and glorify that which is wrong in our culture. While such stories certainly sell newspapers and definitely command viewers, the result is an overwhelming feeling of helplessness for the everyday person.

That’s where we take over.

Since its inception in the winter of 2004, WMSJ has set out to be the foremost source of human interest feature stories in all of Western Massachusetts. Telling the true feel-good tales of the kids who live down the street, the people who you work with, the old friend you lost touch with – it’s all in a day’s work, and helps to give people a more realistic view of the region we call home.

After all, we’re all in this together.
